Day 25 – What Once Was Resistence – Then Becomes Support –

The title explains a common phenomenon in the the trading market.  “Resistance and Support.”  What once was resistance always becomes support.  When you set a goal it is the top of where you want to be. But like all adventures, it sometimes is the case where you climb the tallest peak all the way to the top and then you only view higher mountains to ascend in the distance.

On your original climb you tried so hard to get to the top of the mountain (your goal).  You put one step in front of the other.  You stopped and took breaks and at other times you powered at above pace speed.  You then fall into the 80/20 rule where 80% of your energy is spent on the last 20% of the climb.  You push hard and you desire to reach the top.  You are almost out of water (resources), but you feel that your chance is there for the taking so you charge on.

Then after hours, weeks, months or years you reach the very top that you had been eyeing for some time.  You immediately look back on the path that you had ascended to see what it took to get there and revel in your accomplishment.  Then after a brief celebration with yourself and the others you have brought along on this journey…you catch something out of the corner of your eye.  It is something bigger, wider, higher more impressive than where you were standing. (Your new goal is in front of you.)

The higher peak is amazing to view, glamorous to soak in and splendid in its potential.  But how will you tackle this new feat?  Well, you are now standing on a solid foundation.  What once was resistance (the mountain you just summited) becomes support…(a better vantage point to see what you must next accomplish.

The bonus about this new support is that it very well could be 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 of the way closer to the summit of the next peak (goal).  If you had started at the very bottom of this new goal then it would be a very long and tedious venture to get there, but instead you focused on the smaller goal that was more clear and easier to visualize its success.

So, I implore upon you to look at the goals that you have and see if there are smaller ones to ascend/accomplish first before biting off more than you can chew.  Then once you break through something that was resistance you will have a firm footing for support.

Now that I have the support of being on top of my “Consultant Peak”…I am eyeing the new distant mountain of “Mt. Star Consultant”.  And while I do believe that there is an “Executive Climb”  to happen in the future, my clear vision and goal is to focus on the immediate goal of Star Consultant.

Exercise:  What mountains and adventures do you have to climb and plan for?  What things in your life are being resistance that you can turn into support?  What beliefs do you have about how hard this journey will be only to realize that your very forward motion will eventually lead you to the top of your peak?  Think about them and write some notes.  I have written my next goal here for everyone to read.  What goal do you want to put out in the open for others to see how passionate you are about reaching those mountainous summits?

Feel free to write them in the comment box below to inspire others.

  1. I love this post Kenyon! One of the things I tend to forget to do is to celebrate the summit! When I fail to celebrate and relish my accomplishments, I fail to lock them in. That can lead to a less than solid foundation from which to plan the next ‘expedition’ from. So thank you for my ‘aha’ of today and my next goal? To help 10 of my team mates achieve their next goals in the next 30 days! Oooh, I like that one!

    Climb on Star Consultant!
